webMethods Integration Server

webMethods Integration Server, is one of the primary integration platform. It was founded in 1996, by a company called “WebMethods”., which then on 2007 is acquired by Software AG. The earlier notion is to promote standards of web service technologies. WebMethods Integration Server., is popularly referred as “IS” among developers.

It supports several programming language capabilities, like:

Java, WebMethods Flow (Proprietary Graphical Language), DSP (Dynamic Server Pages), C/C++, SQL etc

It supports standards & protocols like , HTTP/S, FTP/S,SFTP, HTML5, MQTT JMS, SOAP, REST, XML, JSON, OAuth,  SAML etc.

Also has additional support packages/adapters for Integrating systems like BAAN, SAP, PeopleSoft, Lotus Notes, Siebel, AS400, Remedy etc. It comes packaged with a kit called “Adapter Development Kit” where a developer can make their own adapter in the webMethods framework.

The latest version of webMethods Integration Server is 10.0 and is released in April 2017.

With IS, you can pretty much connect anything with everything faster, like mainframe applications, databases, cloud, etc., webMethods also has Cloud Stream, Mobile Suite comes as as an additional package. webMethods mobile suite is an easier way to facilitate the connection between backend database and enterprise mobile apps.

webMethods has DevOps edition as well, supports development and implementation faster. Developer can develop & run unit test code easily from their individual desktop/laptop without being connected to the central IS, and can implement changes in accelerated mode.
