During my school times, it was believed and made to believe that getting a medical college admission is the success for any school student. And everyone knows that every student cannot get admission, still its pressurized and forced among kids and school. Making the student believe that is the ultimate success, has killed many of them, due to various reasons.
Like they scored less mark, parents cannot afford fees to get them in, even after joining medical college first year, if they are not able to pay fees especially in private colleges the students have committed suicide.
This morning, when I woke up I was reading about what happened to the girl from Tamilnadu India, called Anitha. Eventhough she scored 1176 out of 2000 in her twelfth grade, she couldn’t get into the medical college, because she couldnt get good score in the new entrance exam which is a totally different syllabus for the state board students. Every life is precious, this loss being talked there are several losses are not been talked since its not remarkable enough to talk about. But still its life.
Changes in Government in perspective of education is important, but instead of waiting for Government to change, why can’t we change our society, starting from family environment, to school environment. Giving a way for the students to understand real life, and opportunities instead of just telling them to get first score. Really? good score in academics contribute to their life? – Yes may be in some instances and some time, but not through out their life for sure
How many people lost their life after being successful in school, after their medical or engineering degrees, after they started their life, after their kids because they cannot face the real life.
Emotional wellbeing of kids is primary important than academic wellbeing, can we start thinking about this a little please?
Anita, we miss you, and we don’t want to miss more Anitas!
